CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND REHABILITATION - RICHARD J. DONOVAN CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
The prison is a 792-bed Level II facility with three housing units. The other structures include a facility support services building for healthcare services, laundry, canteen and dining areas. Additionally, the facility includes a program support services building for general visiting, religious programs, classrooms, library, indoor recreation, an administrative building, family visiting, and warehouse renovation.
A unique indirect evaporative cooling concept with heat recovery allowed 100% outside air heating and cooling at housing areas to reduce odors, provide a healthier environment, and reduce the facility’s energy usage. Additionally, the facility has a propane gas back up system to the natural gas service to provide redundancy and allows economic savings by allowing the owner to use thr significantly lower interruptible natural gas rate.
