Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical Systems Designer to join our Phoenix, AZ office. You will serve as a critical design team member in electrical systems development and coordination of the electrical systems discipline for construction design projects. This position requires interaction with the firm’s project team members (designers and engineers from mechanical, plumbing, and special systems disciplines), architects, consultants, clients, and contractors to identify project requirements, develop engineering concepts, present options and recommendations in order to meet the project needs. You will have the ability to demonstrate a trustworthy presence through your professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowledge.


Responsibilities

A successful electrical systems designer should be able to apply strong technical design skills and knowledge to produce accurate and timely deliverables.

You will support project requirements with:
  • Client interface
  • Field investigation
  • Basis of design narratives
  • Develop complete electrical construction design documents
  • Edit standard technical specifications
  • Comply with all applicable codes and statues
  • Review submittals
  • Support the project through construction completion


  • Other responsibilities include:
  • Provide a leadership role to share your knowledge with other design staff.
  • Provide design information and effectively delegate work to production support staff as applicable.
  • Design projects for compliance with city, state, and national building codes, compliance with owner standards, and industry construction
        standards (NEC, NFPA, IECC, IBC, LEED, etc.).
  • Meet with and interact with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate with manufacturers and contractors to stay abreast of the latest trends and electrical systems technology.


  • Requirements

  • Excellent skills with 7+ years experience designing electrical systems consisting of lighting & control, power, power distribution, HVAC,
        food service equipment, fire alarm, etc.
  • Working knowledge of recent versions of Revit and AutoCAD. You must be capable of design information input in each program
  • Working knowledge of COMCheck and applicable energy codes
  • Working knowledge with NEC and NFPA Code Standards
  • Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.


  • Other Preferred Qualifications

  • NCQLP Lighting Certification (LC)
  • LEED AP or specific program entity
  • Ability to use AGI-32
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, B.S. in Architectural Engineering, or other engineering discipline with applicable experience
