MIDWESTERN UNIVERSITY GLENDALE CAMPUS, LARGE ANIMAL FACILITY
(College of Veterinary Medicine, Equine and Bovine Center)
Midwestern University was determined to provide the first veterinary program available in Arizona. The Equine and Bovine center enables students to interact and learn with large animals. LSW was hired to design MEP systems for this several building project and all of its complex equipment.
The facility features multiple necroscopy laboratory spaces, tissue and biohazard storage, a histopathology laboratory, teaching theatre, chemical storage, feed storage, and a pharmacy. One of the buildings houses a bio-safety level 3 large animal necropsy (surgical examination of deceased animals) laboratory. Additionally, the center has bovine and equine housing areas for 20 horses and 20 cows, treatment rooms, and large teaching workshops with stalls and paddocks.
